Friends Growing Together

What We Do

Established in 1975, the Dominion Valley Garden Club is a friendly group of women who enjoy learning and sharing information in the areas of gardening, horticulture, floral design, landscape design, and environmental awareness.  We seek to aid in the protection of native plants and birds and instill in our youth a love of gardening and a respect for the environment. We meet monthly from September to May on Tuesday mornings.

The highlight of our garden club meetings is an educational program presented by a guest speaker, often a master gardener.  We also share information on horticulture, conservation, and recycling.  Together we learn how small actions lead to preserving our environment.

We designed and continue to maintain a Pollinator Garden at the Burke Centre Library, the Blue Star Memorial Garden at the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum, and a garden at the Historic St. Mary’s Church in Fairfax Station.  Our members cultivate a love for nature and essential skills in sustainability and teamwork.

We seek to inspire young gardeners to plant seeds and watch them grow. Each spring we offer a Seed to Sprout program for children at the Burke Centre Public Library.  We are creating a garden with an area preschool program to encourage children to appreciate nature and the magic of gardening. Let's dig in and grow together!
